APOCALYPTIC MOTIFS IN THE MYTHOPOETICS OF S. A. YESENIN

The article is devoted to the study of apocalyptic motifs in the poetry of S. A. Yesenin, forming the artistic myth space. The image of the motherland in the poet’s work is interpreted in the system of Russian Messianism — faith in Russia as a God-chosen land. Pre-revolutionary works are considered in the aspect of sophological aesthetics, which combines images of earthly beauty and spiritual intuitions of the otherworld. Yesenin’s lyrical texts are included in the mythopoeic context formed by the Russian symbolism and sophology of Vladimir Solovyov. Post-October poetry is interpreted in the system of the concept of apostasy — spiritual apostasy. The works about the Motherland express the deformation of the celestial-terrestrial space under the influence of the social revolution. The lyrical hero of Yesenin’s poetry is also experiencing a painful axiological crisis, on the one hand, rejecting traditional religious and mystical symbols, and on the other, forming his own artistic version of atheistic and Bolshevik Russia. The loss of the old faith and the darkening of prophetic premonitions determine the painful tragedy of self-awareness and a sense of Homeland. Based on the apocalyptic interpretation of S. A. Yesenin’s works of art, which form the mythopoeic image of the Motherland, a conclusion is drawn about the mystical and religious overtones of his creative evolution, which played an important role in the development of the Messianic myth of Russia as a God-chosen land. The results of the study expand and complement the ideas about mythopoetic parallels and traditions in the historical and literary context of the twentieth century and the possibilities of interpreting S. A. Yesenin’s poems in the system of the hermeneutic phenomenon of increment of meanings.
