This article examines the intercategorical interactions between the functional-semantic categories of taxis and iterativity in languages with different structures, using
German and Russian as examples. The research’s novelty lies in the development and validation of an integrative model of intercategorical crossing, which describes the mechanisms for integrating the corresponding functional-semantic fields. The relevance of this work lies in the operationalization of this concept, which explains the patterns of linguistic actualization of complex iterative-tactical meanings.
The aim of the study was to conduct a systemic analysis of the mechanisms of intercategorical interactions between taxis and iterativity in terms of their integration. To achieve this, the following objectives were achieved: 1) a model of intercategorical crossing was developed; 2) linguistic means of representing primary and secondary iterative-taxis situations of simultaneity and heterotemporality were identified and analyzed; 3) a comparative analysis of the structural and semantic features of these situations was conducted to establish universal and idioethnic traits. The study is based on the analysis of over 8,000 iterative utterances, selected using a continuous sampling method from authoritative electronic corpora (LC, DWDS, NKRY). A combination of methods was used, including descriptive, contextual, and comparative analysis, as well as modeling and classification. The study established that intercategorical crossing determines the actualization of a wide range of iterative-taxis categorical situations. Universal and idioethnic features were identified: the German language is characterized by the prevalence of polytaxis constructions and a developed system
of secondary-tactic meanings; monotaxis constructions with a focus on primary-tactic meanings are typical for the Russian language. A typology of iterative-tactic situations
has been developed, including deverbative, verbal, adverbial, and attributive varieties. The results contribute to the development of functional-typological grammar and the theory of intercategorical relations. The practical value of the findings lies in the application of these findings to linguodidactics (teaching German/Russian, specialized courses) and translation theory. The research’s potential lies in extending the comparative analysis to other pairs of languages with different structures.
