Annotation

The article is devoted to the results of the activity of the Research School of the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow City University «Intercultural Foreign Language Education as a Factor of Social Transformations». The authors specify the characteristics of the Research School, focusing on the applicability of research results to the educational, socio-cultural, socio-political life of society. The retrospective projection of the main results of the Research School represents the fundamental papers (dissertations, monographs), as well as some scientific articles. The publication provides the description of five main areas of research activity of the School: 1) development of methodological foundations of linguodidactics, 2) study of problems of improving the training of a foreign language teacher, 3) development of new concepts of a foreign language textbook, 4) study of the linguodidactic potential of modern information technologies, 5) improvement of the theory and technology of teaching oriental languages. The authors demonstrate practical implementation of the results of the Research School’s activity, and also set the vector of prospects for the research work of its members with a focus on projective tendencies of the development of socio-cultural factors, as well as transformations of public needs and state orders in the field of language education.
