Annotation

The article aims at revealing an issue of particular relevance and interest which is interpersonal and intercultural dialogue. The study attempts to analyze the story by V. Ferra-Mikura «Twelve People are Not a Dozen» and the novel trilogy by N. Abgaryan «All about Manyunya» in the light of the categories «known, familiar» and «alien». The empirical material was due to represent ne chronological period and to focus on characters that are peers in terms of their age and lifestyle. It is also important that the creative works were written in different countries to cover intercultural, interethnic and also casually interfaith aspects. The main issues to consider are the following: intercategorical transition of «alien» into «known» and the possibility to do without the category of «alien» as it is. The article employs the comparative method of analyzing literary works. It proves that the category if «alien» is rately an obligatory one in a literary work. At the same time it helps to emphasize the contrasts in the characters percepting the world around them. Transiting from «alien» towards «known» is repeatedly in the limelight as it comes to analyzed works under study. Their example portrays the rapprochement of «alien» becoming possible due to the characters’ way of demonstrating openly their real selves and desires. The findings contribute to better understanding the way the children are getting along which is a projection of interpersonal relationships in adults.
