Annotation

The article examines the problem of genre transformation in Chinese drama of the first half of the XX century, identifies the features of the remarks and auxiliary author’s speech in creating a new conversational drama in China. On the example of the analysis of Cao Yu’s play «The Thunderstorm», the special functions of the dramatic work side text are proved: the expanded author’s descriptions, preceding the appearance of the heroes, are designed to create deeper psychological portraits of the characters.
