Annotation
The article presents the results of a survey aimed at identifying reading preferences and values of students concerning literature. It is established that philology students
of Moscow City University being aware of classical literature contributing to the life of a person and society still prefer foreign authors as leisure reading and are practically not familiar with the Russian contemporary literature. The results of the survey can be taken into account when developing the program of the academic discipline “Great Books”.
