Annotation

The paper presents a statistical and contextual analysis of the variability of the binary pair of institutional discourse in English and Russian. The author explores culturally determined trends in the variability of the pair a commander and a private. The study shows that the Russian language tends to change the hierarchical positioning in the binary pair, while such variability is not typical of the English language. The inverted version of the phrase in Russian is associated with an emotionally colored context and the description of emergency situations.
