Annotation

The article analyzes V. S. Vysotsky’s songs and poems, which reflect the author’s own works, as well as the works of contemporary and previous-era poets (such texts are traditionally referred to as metapoetic). Metapoetry (poems about poems, about the creative process, about the role of the poet and his creations in society, and about the peculiarities of poetic language) occupies an important place in the artistic universe of any author. In Vysotsky’s legacy, this topic is particularly relevant due to the fact that he openly identified himself as a member of the song-poetic movement, which was the subject of significant controversy and required constant defense (referring to the genre of author’s song). In addition, Vysotsky’s increased attention to metapoetic issues is due not only to group interests (the legitimacy of the Bard movement), but also to personal interests: the author’s constant desire for self-identification, the desire to answer the following questions: who am I? and what is the meaning of my being in the world? (me — poet, people need my songs). While Vysotsky was equally enthusiastic about his songwriting and acting career during his numerous concerts (these statements have been studied and commented on), his songs and poems focused primarily on the art of words. Vysotsky’s texts on metapoetics can be perceived as a well-thought-out unity that vividly represents the main patterns of the poet’s artistic thinking, as will be demonstrated in this article.
