Annotation
The article presents and substantiates shifts in intercultural and interethnic communication, caused by modern civilizational processes producing a negative impact. The author proves the misuse of such notions as intercultural communication and interethnic communication often treated as synonyms; there is also evidence that
emphasizes the original meaning of the key intercultural communication concepts is lost. The concepts are as follows: tolerance, mutually beneficial cooperation, dialogue of cultures, and partnership. The article describes the destructive effect of artificially imposed Russophobia, aggressiveness, and hostility from the West on communication with representatives of our country. When considering transformational changes in interethnic communication, there are new trends identified in the Russian language functioning in the framework of the multi-ethnic Russian community, related to the growing number of migrants whose level of Russian is not sufficient enough. The article shows how such language processes as assimilation and bilingualism are deformed against the background of new sociocultural realities. The findings highlight two fundamental principles for studying the issues of intercultural communication which are considering the general political situation in the world as well as the specific features of the world order that determine the nature of intercultural dialogue. Introducing a flexible language policy that ensures the linguistic stability for the multiethnic
community of our country proves of the highest importance in order to enhance interethnic communication, as well as to develop and implement a long-term program
for the formation of interethnic communication culture.
