Annotation
The article aims at analyzing the features of intercultural discourse and its impacting the process of preparing students for intercultural interaction. The authors focus on the leading trends in intercultural discourse research the latter emphasizing such aspects as instability and unpredictability of intercultural contacts, demonstration of socio-cultural self-identification by communicators, stereotyping of perceptions about the partner’s culture, and the increasing significance of national self-awareness among discourse participants. The relevance of this research is due to the need to reassess and adapt educational approaches to mastering intercultural communication skills in the context of global transformative processes. The objective of this work is to identify and explain the impact of present-day intercultural discourse on communication dynamics and achieving understanding between representatives of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The study refines and specifies the understanding of intercultural discourse, its conceptual features, thereby contributing to the fields of language teaching and intercultural communication theory. The research conducted attempts to establish the link between the identified features of intercultural discourse and the necessity to develop effective strategies for training would-be language specialists. The scientific relevance of this study lies in expanding the current understanding of intercultural discourse as a linguodidactic phenomenon and describing its typical traits. The analysis and findings presented provide insights that prompt revising the existing approaches and strategies for training language specialists in higher education settings.
