Spatial perception as a basic cognitive ability plays an important role in the metaphorical construction of the conceptual system. This paper is devoted to the cognitive
study of the spatial metaphoricity of the lexico-semantic group of verbs of behavior as a means of linguistic objectification of one of the most important mental conceptual spheres — the behavioral conceptual sphere. The purpose of the study is to reveal the role of spatial metaphors in the formation and understanding of concepts of behavior in the Russian language. The cognitive analysis of the lexico-semantic, word-formation, and etymological characteristics of verbs of behavior has revealed several spatial metaphors that are significant for the linguistic modeling of the Russian behavioral conceptual sphere, including orientation metaphors, distance metaphors, size metaphors and form metaphors. The research shows that different types of spatial metaphors depend on the linguistic conceptualization of different types of human behavior, such as arrogant, cowardly, stubborn, cunning, and other types of behavior.
