Annotation

The article represents an overview of dissertations and research works that cover the evolving ideas concerning the fundamental verbs theory introduced by Luiza M. Skrelina, a famous Russian specialist in Romance languages. The paper proves the theory is relevant as it relates to the emergence and development of new fields of linguistics that address the study of language universals and polyfunctionality of language units. It is shown that the invariant model of fundamental French verbs served as a basis for discovering individual categorial features of other verbs and their potential for linguistic objectification of a vast range of notions.
