Annotation
The article focuses on O. Wilde’s interpretation of the well-known myth about Narcissus in the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. The popular plot is supplemented by the use of the stylistic device of mirroring. The idea of binarity underlies the architype of the mirror and becomes evident on the subject, plot and composition levels of the novel. It is later transformed into the phenomenon of triplicity.
