Annotation

The paper reports on the study of the territorial and social variation of English pronunciation in popular music genres. Focus is given to the social and socio-cultural factors that influence the phonetic realization of oral speech and song discourse. Drawing on the findings made in the course of the perception and phonostylistic analysis the authors outline the main tendencies of accent accommodation in the repertoire of popular performers.
