Annotation
The article tackles one of the aspects of the Chinese drama “Western Wing”, created in the Yuan era by the playwright Wang Shifu: the subject of research features different types of female consciousness embodied in the play, as well as verbal and non-verbal ways of creating it. The authors show the influence of Confucian morality on the thoughts and actions of the heroines, define the motives of protest against the traditions that deprived a person of freedom of feelings expression, prove the humanism of the author’s position.
