Adverbs of Manner and their Role in Constructing Mono- and Polypredicative Statements

The article examines the adverbs of manner and their role in constructing mono- and poly- propositive statements. The analysis tackles the combinations adverb + verb and the influence of adverb semantics on the situational semantics being developed in the verb. The main focus is on some action verbs. The compatibility of a verb is due to the structure of its semantic valences. The way the verb is interpreted is also associated with the issue of mono- and polypropositivity. Monopropositive utterances feature an action verb does not have any situational semantics. Polypropositive structures aims at explicating such a situational feature as «behavior».
