Annotation

The article analyzes the use of two-member and one-member non-verbal sentences in V. P. Astafiev’s novel «Starfall» to involve the reader in the artistic world of narration and achieve authenticity, realism of the described events and the character’s experiences. Relevance is determined by the importance of researching the functions of non-verbal sentences in the artistic text and the high educational value of V. P. Astafiev’s novel «Starfall». The article is aimed at identifying the syntactic functions of non-verbal sentences reflecting the author’s artistic idea. The leading approach to research is based on the modern structural-semantic method which allows you to identify the interaction of the structure and semantics of the sentence in the expression of the author’s intentions of the artistic text. The article identifies the main functions performed in the novel «Starfall» by non-verbal two-member and one-member sentences: characterizing, evaluative, reflective. The materials presented in the article make it possible to use them in the practice of teaching the Russian language at a university and school.
