Annotation
The article is devoted to the study of traditionalist attitudes of Russian Imaginism — a movement belonging to the avant-garde, but at the same time actively turning
to cultural and literary traditions. The contradictory attitude of the Imagists to tradition is analyzed, which combines the declared break with the past and simultaneous reliance on archaic forms, mythopoetic motifs and religious concepts. The work examines key aspects of Imagist traditionalism, including the playful use of rituals, parodic rethinking of classical examples, as well as the influence of M. M. Bakhtin’s concepts on the poetics of the movement. Particular attention is paid to the sacralization of the poetic word and the figure of the poet in the work of the Imagists, which is manifested in their mystical perception of art and the desire to create a new metaphysical reality. It is emphasized that the traditionalism of the imagists is not conservative, but transformative in nature, aimed at modernizing the literary paradigm through the reactualization of traditional elements. The methodological basis of the study is the historical-literary and cultural-historical approaches, as well as the analysis of declarations, manifestos and artistic texts of the representatives of imaginism. The article contributes to the understanding of the specifics of the Russian avant-garde, demonstrating how traditionalist attitudes became the basis for innovative experiments and anticipated some ideas of postmodernism.
